Gran Canaria Tourist Guide.

     The best definition of Gran Canaria is, without any doubt, "Miniature Continent". It offers many posibilities regarding its weather, landscapes and contrasts. In Gran Canaria, you can go from the warm coastal area to the temperature midlands, traverse valleys and reach the summit of the island where you can play with snow even while the sun shines on the seashore. Although it only snows over 1.500 metres of height a few days in some winters, this unique posibility in the world, gives it all sense the expression "Miniature Continent".

     With a surface area of some 1.532 square kilometres, Gran Canaria offers the opportunity of getting lost in its golden and sandy beaches of its deep ravines. Your can also walk along "sand dunes" or visit the dams in the centre of the island. You can also appreciate the delightfull small villages where the time seems to have been stopped and get to know the bustle of a cosmopolitan town, such as Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

     "Miniature Continent" mean for Gran Canaria the identification of one of its best attractions such as the variety of landscapes, toghether with the excellent sunshine during all the year. This weather produces a rich and varied flora, with many island species wich are the only one existence in the world. Otherwise, the beauty of the bottom of the sea deserves to be appreciated as the wide selection of watersports. Lastly, the history has left its trace, above all in the old villages of the city, with is colonial air, and also in the coast castles, wich defended the inhabitants of the island of Gran Canaria against the many pirates attacks, who plied the seas.
